Elements and Performance Criteria
- Gather information relating to market prices and fluctuations
- Interpret previous race performance of greyhounds or horses
- Determine the expected form of the racing greyhounds or horses
- Collect, interpret and report betting information to stewards
- Monitor, note and report fluctuations and anomalies in prices to stewards prior to race
- Monitor bookmakers' telephone calls
- Monitor internet wagering activity
- Observe activities in betting ring and surrounds
- Mediate in betting disputes
- Inspect betting ledgers and other records of transactions
- Compare accepted wagers with legislative requirements
- Review bookmakers' ledgers and other records for compliance with rules of racing and legislative requirements
- Compile and present evidence of suspected non-compliance by bookmakers or their employees to chief steward or other designated personnel
- Seize and receipt ledgers and other documentation for further investigation if non-compliance is suspected
